Frequently asked questions

Is Luna free?

Every new user gets 7 days of full Premium automatically, with no payment and no card. After that Luna stays free in Basic mode: the night summary, Tonight's suggestion, the alarm and Sleep Mode, the check-in, 4-4 breathing and the 7-day trend. Premium is an optional monthly or yearly subscription through the App Store; prices are shown in the app.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. Luna reads the sleep saved in Apple Health by any device or app, even sleep you add yourself in the Health app. An Apple Watch adds sleep stages and night heart data; when some data is missing, the score is worked out from what is there.

Does my data leave my phone?

No. Luna has no account or server and no ads, analytics or tracking. Apple Health data is only read, never written, and everything Luna keeps stays on your iPhone.

Is Luna available on Android?

Not yet. For now Luna runs on iPhone (iOS 15 or later); an Android version that reads Health Connect is planned.

Is Luna a medical device?

No. Luna helps you notice your sleep habits; it is not a medical device and is not meant to diagnose or treat any condition. If you are worried about your sleep, talk to a doctor.

Writing to us

Email [email protected] — the link above opens a message with the subject filled in. To help us help you faster, please include:

  • your iPhone model and iOS version (Settings → General → About),
  • Luna’s version (in Luna: Profile → About → Version),
  • what you did right before the problem; screenshots help.

We never need your health data to help you, so there is no need to send it.

Free trial, Basic and Premium

  • Your 7-day Premium trial starts automatically the first time you open Luna. It needs no payment and never turns into a subscription by itself — there is nothing to cancel.
  • When the trial ends, Luna continues in Basic mode: the night summary, Tonight’s suggestion, the alarm and Sleep Mode, the check-in, 4-4 breathing and the 7-day trend stay open.
  • Premium — all sounds and stories, Wind Down, the other breathing exercises, the nap timer, 30- and 90-day trends, check-in comparisons and the weekly priority — is an auto-renewable subscription, monthly or yearly, bought through the App Store. The price is shown next to each plan before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple Account, and the subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Luna uses Apple’s standard Terms of Use (EULA).

Cancelling or managing your subscription

Apple handles the billing, so you cancel in your Apple Account, not in Luna: on your iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose Luna and tap Cancel Subscription — or open apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.

Premium stays on until the end of the period you have paid for. While a subscription is active, Profile → Membership in Luna opens the same page. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Restoring purchases

On a new iPhone or after reinstalling Luna, make sure you are signed in with the Apple Account you subscribed with, open Profile → Membership in Luna and tap Restore purchases at the bottom of the Luna Premium screen.

Apple Health access

Luna only reads from Apple Health: sleep records and stages, heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability and respiratory rate. To check or change its access, open the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps → Luna, and turn on the categories you want Luna to read. You can also get there from iPhone Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Luna (on iOS 18 and later, Health is under Settings → Apps).

A night is missing? Check that Apple Health has sleep for that night (Health → Browse → Sleep) and that Luna’s read access is on. Sleep from an Apple Watch can take a while to arrive after you wake up. Profile → Privacy & data → Disconnect Health in Luna stops reading; your existing Luna data is not deleted.

The alarm

  • iOS 26 and later: Luna’s alarm uses the iPhone’s own alarm system. Allow Luna’s alarms when asked, and the alarm rings on the lock screen, in silent mode and with a Focus on. Before Sleep Mode starts, Luna checks the permission and shows a Fix button if something is missing.
  • Earlier iOS versions: the alarm rings while Luna stays open in the background, so don’t swipe Luna away in the app switcher at night.

Deleting your data

In Luna open Profile → Privacy & data → Delete my Luna data. Your sleep records, scores, check-ins and settings are deleted from the phone; this cannot be undone. So that the free trial does not start again, only the trial’s start date, whether you were told it ended and the subscription’s last known state are kept; on iPhone the trial’s start date is also kept in the Keychain, which stays even if you delete the app. Deleting the app removes all other Luna data. Data in Apple Health is not touched. More in the Luna Privacy Policy.
